His deft touches and ability to turn in tight spaces help him escape pressure and create room for others. That skillset makes him promising both as a winger and a future centre-forward. One match is not enough to judge whether Adou Minh, Khoa Ngo and Williams Minh Hoang can sustain this level. But their debuts are encouraging. Vietnam are dealing with injuries and fatigue among key players after a demanding period. New options give Kim Sang Sik more room to rotate. Kim has spent considerable time reshuffling a familiar group of players. The Philippines game showed he is willing to change. Adou Minh started, Williams Minh Hoang was handed a debut start and Khoa Ngo came off the bench. That indicates the coach is not afraid to experiment. The win over the Philippines was not complete. The scoreline was positive, but the performance exposed issues. Dropping deep after taking the lead is a dangerous habit, especially against better opponents.
